Lifeguards Warn Of Strong Rip Currents Over Labor Day Weekend
VENICE BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Lifeguards on Sunday continued to warn beachgoers that strong rip currents will create dangerous conditions at Southern California beaches for the remainder of the holiday weekend.
At least one beach -- Sacred Cove in Palos Verdes -- will be closed on Sunday and Monday due to dangerous conditions, lifeguards announced.
A large south swell began to arrive on Saturday afternoon and will hold steady through Labor Day, bringing large waves and strong rip currents to area beaches.
Swimmers are being asked to check in with lifeguards before entering the ocean this weekend and to watch out for signs of rip currents, such as choppy brown surface water flowing away from the beach.
