Suspect Charged In Connection With Stabbing Death Of Tustin Man

TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) — Officials on Wednesday announced the arrest of a 51-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing a man in Tustin.

According to the Tustin Police Department, Robert Wilson, of Tustin, was arrested without incident on Aug. 26 in Riverside County.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 18, officers received a 911 call from a local employee who reported a man was bleeding in the 14200 block of Red Hill.

Upon their arrival, authorities located an adult man, who was later identified as Robert Carranza, 39, of Tustin, suffering from an apparent stab wound.

Paramedics transported Carranza to a hospital where he later died.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was stabbed near Frontier Park before he fled to a business in the area.

On Tuesday, the Orange County District Attorney's Office formally charged Wilson with murder in the first degree. He is being held on $1 million.

According to police, Wilson has an extensive prior criminal history that includes arrests for assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats.

He was on parole when he committed the murder.

The motive for the stabbing was not immediately clear.
