Bogus Barricade Call Leads To Evacuations, Streets Closures Near Lake Balboa
LAKE BALBOA (CBSLA.com) — A bogus call to authorities on Wednesday evening that a woman believed to be armed had barricaded herself in an apartment building near Lake Balboa led to evacuations and street closures.
Believing the call to be true, LAPD officers on the 6600 block of Havenhurst Avenue were waiting outside the building and LAFD also set up a command post nearby.
Authorities also closed Havenhurst Avenue between Vanowen Street and Victory Boulevard.
Police were investigating the source of the hoax.
