Police Pursuit Suspect Reverses Car Against Traffic, Flees On Foot In El Segundo

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — A police pursuit that began in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon ended in El Segundo, when police apprehended a man suspected of stealing a car.

In the moments before his capture, the suspect reversed his car across multiple lanes of traffic before fleeing on foot.

Shortly after 2 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers began following a man in downtown Los Angeles driving what was suspected to be a stolen vehicle.

The driver led officers south on the 110 Freeway and then west on the 105 Freeway to El Segundo, where he was captured on aerial footage from Sky9 backing his car up through multiple lanes of traffic on Sepulveda Boulevard, eventually crossing a cement median and crashing into a car. That car was propelled forward into another car.

After the crash, the suspect fled on foot near the corner of Grand Avenue and Indiana Street. Authorities arrested him nearby.

The identity of the suspect was not released on Wednesday afternoon.
