Police Seek Driver In Deadly Hit-And-Run Crash In South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman was killed on Monday after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in South Los Angeles.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers were sent to Century Boulevard between Hoover and Fig streets for report of a fatal traffic collision, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival police located a woman pinned underneath a white Toyota Prius.

Paramedics airlifted the victim to a hospital where she later died. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the woman was struck by an SUV as she crossed the street. The force of the collision caused her to land underneath the Prius.

"The driver failed to stop and render aid to the pedestrian, and continued eastbound on Century," said Officer Daniel Chi.

Detectives described the suspect vehicle as a blue SUV, possibly a Toyota 4Runner.

Shortly before 4 a.m., officers reopened streets in the area.

Anyone with information regarding this incident has been urged to contact the LAPD's South Traffic Division at (323) 421-2577.
