At Least 9 Cars Vandalized, Keyed In Downtown Ventura

VENTURA (CBSLA.com)  —  Ventura Police are looking for the vandal or vandals who damaged at least nine vehicles sometime Friday night into Saturday morning.

The police received several reports of vehicles having been vandalized during the nighttime hours in the neighborhood above Main St., between Palm St. and Catalina St.

A total of nine vehicles were vandalized by being keyed. The vandal or vandals wrote various words into the paint.

Several of the cars also had slashed tires, authorities said.

Officials believe the cars were randomly picked.

Police want to remind the public to be vigilant and alert.

They also said there are steps the public can take to help minimize crime:

· Please immediately call police and report any and all suspicious activity (805) 650-8010 or 911 in the event of an emergency.

· Pay attention and be aware of your surroundings.

· Set your car alarm.

· Lighting can be a deterrent – whenever possible, park in a well-lit area.

· Share this type of information with friends, family and neighbors.

The investigation into this act of vandalism is ongoing.
