Acting Coach, 55, Found Guilty Of Committing Lewd Acts On 13-Year-Old Girl

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A jury has found a well-known acting coach guilty of committing lewd acts on a 13-year-old girl, authorities said.

Jurors deliberated for about a day before determining Cameron Thor was guilty of one count of lewd acts upon a child. The special allegation of substantial sexual contact was also found to be true.

Thor faces up to eight years in state prison when he sentenced on Oct. 9.

Simone Shay of the Sex Crimes Division said the victim took private classes from Thor at his Agoura Hills home. In March 2009, Thor drove the girl, then 13, to the Santa Monica Mountains where he sexually assaulted her.

Thor was arrested last year. At the time of his arrest, authorities said Thor sexually assaulted the victim numerous times over an 11-month period.

As an actor, Thor appeared in many films and TV shows including "A Few Good Men," "Jurrasic Park," "Hook," and "Star Trek: The Next Generation."

According to his Wikipedia page, as an acting coach, some of his students included Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Macy Gray, Garry Shandling, Gwen Stefani, Drew Carey, Gerard Butler, Christina Applegate, Helen Hunt, Faye Dunaway and Sylvester Stallone.

This case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Special Victims Bureau.
