Police Continue To Hunt For Driver Who Fatally Struck Mother Of 5

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — Police in San Bernardino continue to hunt for the hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a mother of five last Tuesday evening.

KCAL9's Jennifer Kastner reports the victim's family remains devastated.

Before Lisa Ann Craig, a 49-year-old San Bernardino resident, lost her life, she handed her 10-year-old son her beloved ring to help him remember her.

"My cousin and I went to the hospital and she said -- she just gave this to me," said Malik.

He is one of the five children that Craig leaves behind.

A roadside memorial now sits along busy West Foothill Boulevard, where Craig was struck Aug. 18 while crossing the street at night. The driver took off.

Craig was taken to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. She died several days later.

Her mother is pleading for the public's help in solving the case.

"Everyone's just devastated," says Minnie Darby, Craig's mother. "Just devastated."

Police are now reviewing security video from the nearby Arco station. But, Kastner was told, the video doesn't show the accident.

Her family is left to mourn without answers.

"Everybody that knew Lisa, knew that Lisa was a beautiful person," Darby says, "She had a kind heart. She'd give you the shirt off her back if you asked her."

Craig's son told Kastner he misses his mom. He wishes he could tell her those three special words.

"I love her," he said.

The detective on this case has no description of the vehicle. But he says there were a lot of cars in the area when it happened. He said there must be more witnesses.

If you witnessed the accident or know anything about the case, the San Bernardino Police Department would like to get a call at (909) 384-5664.
