Driver Killed After Crashing Vehicle Into Center Median On Freeway In Pacoima

PACOIMA (CBSLA.com) — Police on Wednesday investigated a deadly traffic collision that took place on a freeway in Pacoima.

Around 12:40 a.m., officers were sent to Paxton Street and Foothill Boulevard for report of a traffic collision, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival to the scene, officers learned an adult man lost control of his vehicle and struck the center median on the eastbound 210 Freeway.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Detectives said the collision appears to be an accident as no prior incidents led up to the crash.

Just after 1:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers issued a SigAlert for the Paxton Street off-ramp on the eastbound 210 Freeway.

The area is expected to reopen around 5:30 a.m., officers added.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
