Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In El Sereno

EL SERENO (CBSLA.com) — Police on Tuesday investigated the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a man in El Sereno.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were sent shortly before 2 a.m. to Haven Street and Ithaca Avenue for report of six shots fired in the area.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a Hispanic man, believed to be around 30-years-old, on the ground suffering from several gunshot wounds in his head and other parts of his body.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

During a preliminary investigation, several shell casings were located, however, no weapon has been recovered.

At this time, no suspect information is available.

According to police, the location is known to be a gang area, however, it remains unclear if the victim was a gang member.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
