SILVERADO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities on Monday worked to determine the cause of death for a 61-year-old fisherman who went missing on Irvine Lake.
According to the Orange County Coroner’s Office, Clarence William Brumfield, of Palmdale, was identified as the victim on Sunday.
Around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, authorities learned Brumfield reportedly fell overboard from a pontoon boat while fishing with a friend on Irvine Lake.
Divers recovered his body near the location where he was last seen, located in 25 feet of water.
City officials explained a companion attempted to rescue Brumfield, however, he was only able to pull himself back onto the boat using the anchor line.
An autopsy is scheduled for this week.
Brumfield was not wearing a life preserver when he fell off the boat.
