Physician Suspected Of Sexually Assaulting Patient After Medical Procedure In Temecula

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — A 44-year-old physician suspected of sexually assaulting a patient following a medical procedure in Riverside County remained in custody on Thursday.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Dr. John McGuire, of Carlsbad, was arrested and booked into the Southwest Detention Center on $3 million bail on Wednesday.

In July, officers with the Temecula Police Department began investigating allegations that McGuire had sexually assaulted one of his patients following a surgical procedure that was performed at the Temecula Valley Hospital in April.

During a preliminary investigation, detectives uncovered evidence which supported the victim's allegations and led to McGuire's arrest.

Authorities said McGuire currently maintains a practice at Graybill Medical Group in Escondido.

The investigation is ongoing.
