Pair Of Armed Robberies Target Customers In Parking Lot Of Arcadia Mall

ARCADIA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are warning residents in Arcadia about two armed robberies reported in the parking lot of the Westfield Santa Anita Mall.

Police responded to an unknown trouble call shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night to a Nordstroms store located at 400 S. Baldwin Avenue, according to Arcadia Police Sgt. Brett Bourgeous.

Upon their arrival, officers contacted a woman who said she was hit over the head with a black semi-automatic handgun and robbed of her purse and cellular phone, Bourgeous said.

The suspect then ran to a silver or grey small SUV, where he joined a second suspect, according to Bourgeous. The vehicle then fled southbound through the parking lot, police said.

The first suspect was described as a tall, skinny male who was wearing a hoodie. The victim was unable to describe the second suspect, according to Bourgeous.

Police say a similar robbery occurred in the south parking lot of the Westfield Santa Anita Mall on Aug. 4 at about 10:11 p.m. when a male victim was robbed at gunpoint after approaching his car.

The suspect made off with the victim's wallet and cell phone, Bourgeous said. The victim was not injured.

The primary suspect in the second incident was described as an African American male in his 20's, about 5'10", with a thin build, with a bandanna covering his face, according to police.

He was seen running off with another unidentified male, Bourgeous said, but no suspect vehicle was seen in the second incident.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to contact the Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5151.
