Natural Gas Line Damaged During Demolition In Boyle Heights; Evacuations Ordered

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Crews were working Wednesday to repair a leaking natural gas line at a structure in Boyle Heights, authorities said.

The gas line at the building along the 200 block of N. St. Louis Street was accidentally damaged during demolition, according to LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

As a precaution, a nearby two-story apartment building was evacuated, Stewart said.

No injuries were reported.

The leak was located across the street from an LAPD station, but there was no immediate impact on operations, according to Stewart.
