Multi-Vehicle Crash Snarls Traffic, Directly Affects Five Schools In Lake Balboa

LAKE BALBOA (CBSLA.com) — Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday that snarled traffic and directly affected five schools in Lake Balboa.

Shortly after 6 a.m., officers were sent to Balboa Boulevard at Vanowen Street for report of a traffic collision, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located several vehicles involved in a crash.

Police said a pick-up truck tipped over and a black Toyota Prius jumped the sidewalk.

According to police, serious injuries are involved in the crash. Officers did not clarify how many were injured.

At this time, Magnolia Science Academy High, Daniel Pearl Magnet High School, Birmingham Community, Mulholland Middle School and High Tech L.A. have been directly affected by the crash.

Heavy traffic is expected in the area until at least 7:30 a.m., authorities said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
