Police Seek Information In Fatal Yucaipa Hit-And-Run

YUCAIPA (CBSLA.com) — Police on Friday are seeking information on the driver of a car seen on surveillance footage hitting a Yucaipa man and speeding away from the scene.

Around 10 p.m, on Thursday night, 34-year-old Cesar Flores was walking with his wife when he was struck from behind by an unidentified vehicle on the 33900 Block of Avenue E in Yucaipa. The suspect's vehicle continued driving along Avenue E after the crash and appeared not to slow down, police said.

Yucaipa Police Department officers found Flores lying on the dirt shoulder on the side of Avenue E with his wife attempting to render aid. Flores had major injuries to his head and legs. He was was transported to Redlands Community Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have surveillance video footage of the hit-and-run but have thus far only identified the vehicle as a late-model, light-colored passenger car. The vehicle would have damage to its front, ride side from the crash. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is investigating.

The Yucaipa Police Department is asking anyone with information on the identity of the driver to call  (909) 918-2328. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can call 1-800-78-CRIME.
