Family, Friends Step Up Search For Missing 32-Year-Old Last Seen Outside Dance Club

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Friends and family stepped up the hunt Wednesday for a missing 32-year-old last seen in the early hours of August 6 leaving a dance club.

Jose David Jimenez was  last seen after a night out at the Echoplex in the 1800 block of Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park.

Friends gathered there Wednesday evening and handed out flyers hoping someone could tell them if they have seen Jimenez since he went missing.

KCAL9's Rachel Kim went to the gathering.

Family say it is not unusual for Jimenez to stay at a friend's house overnight (he lives with his parents in Lincoln Heights) but extremely out of character for him not to be in touch with someone within a day.

His car is still parked at a friend's house. He reportedly took an Uber to Echoplex for a reggae dance night.

Witnesses said he arrived alone but was later seen leaving the club with an unknown man around 12:30 a.m.

"It's been really hard on the family," said cousin Carmen Villanueva. "He has no mental conditions. He doesn't have any drug issues. He's a very healthy person. This is very uncharacteristic of him."

Sometime during the night, Jiminez supposedly told people he was going out to smoke and hasn't been seen since.

A Facebook page has also been set up to help find Jimenez.

Jimenez is described as 5 feet 11 inches and weighs about 155 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a gray long sleeved shirt and gray shorts.

Family and friends also handed out flyers in Chinatown where there was a reported sighting.

"We've searched the hospitals, we've searched the morgues and nothing has turned up," said Villanueva. "His disappearance is very mysterious."

If you've seen Jimenez you're asked to call LAPD Detective Ken Thomas at (213) 996-1807.
