Deputies Conduct Investigation Linked To Missing Persons Case From 2009

VALINDA (CBSLA.com) — Deputies conducted an investigation on Thursday that was linked to the whereabouts of a person that was reported missing in 2009.

Around 7 a.m., authorities were sent to a residence located in the 700 block of Elsberry Avenue for report of remains of a missing person possibly buried at the location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities began working to determine if human remains were buried in the backyard of the home.

"Detectives have developed information that the possible remains at this location are unrelated to the residents who live here," said Lt. Victor Lewandowski. "We have enough probable cause that we secured a search warrant to search this location here."

Deputies said the current residents are cooperating with detectives.

The L.A. County Coroner has been called to the scene to assist in the investigation.

The missing person's identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
