Suspect In Custody Following Shooting Death In Norwalk

NORWALK (CBSLA.com)  —  Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives say a suspect is in custody following the shooting death of an adult male in Norwalk Saturday.

The shooting occurred in the 11400 block of Lindale Street around 1:10 p.m.

The victim -- who had multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso -- was pronounced dead at the scene. According to City News Service the victim was a Latino in his 40s. On Sunday, he was identified as 44-year-old Joe Nava.

Officials later said they had a suspect in custody. On Sunday, the suspect was officially identified as 44-year-old Jose Nunez. The suspect is being held without bail.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim lived at the residence with his sister and her boyfriend, deputies said. The sister's boyfriend has been detained as the suspect, they added.

A rifle was recovered at the scene, authorities said.
