Taxi Cab Driver Charged With Raping Customer In OC

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — The Orange County District Attorney's Office sought the public's help Thursday to identify additional victims of a 54-year-old taxi cab driver who has been charged with raping a customer.

Samy Hakim, of Anaheim, has been charged with one felony count of rape of an intoxicated person and one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object of an intoxicated person, according to the district attorney's office.

During the early morning hours on Nov. 18, 2014, Hakim allegedly picked up a 36-year-old woman from a bar in Huntington Beach while he worked as a taxi cab driver for Huntington Beach Yellow Cab.

He is accused of driving the woman to her apartment complex and raping her while she was under the influence of alcohol, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Following the alleged rape, Hakim dropped the woman off and drove away.

According to police, the victim reported the incident to authorities later that day.

On July 9, he was taken into custody.

Hakim remains out of custody on $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 10 a.m. on Friday.

If convicted as charged, Hakim faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison.
