Cathedral City Man Ordered To Stand Trial In 2014 Abduction Of UC Riverside Student

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A judge ruled on Wednesday for a 31-year-old man to stand trial in connection with the abduction of a University of California, Riverside student.

Donald Earl Rosenbek Jr., of Cathedral City, has been charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and assault of a person by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on June 8, 2014, Rosenbek allegedly kidnapped a woman from the University Towers parking garage located at 3500 Iowa Avenue, according to the Riverside Police Department.

Police said the woman was forcibly placed inside of his vehicle and was then bound and driven around.

Rosenbek is accused of physically assaulting her during the incident.

According to police, the victim remained calm and managed to convince Rosenbek to release her at the same parking garage.

Once free, she contacted authorities who arrived on the scene and gathered forensic evidence.

After several months of investigating, evidence along with a photographic line-up subsequently linked Rosenbek to the crime.

He was arrested in October 2014.
