PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Deputies investigated the circumstances Friday surrounding the shooting death of a 24-year-old man in Pasadena.

Around 2:19 a.m., deputies were sent to the 3600 block of Yorkshire Road near the corner of Rosemead Boulevard for report of a possible gunshot victim call.

An adult man who resides in Pasadena was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds upon officer’s arrival.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

CBS2’s Adrianna Weingold said the victim has been identified as Joe McMahon, who worked in production on the TV series “Deadliest Catch.” His grandfather is former CBS News reporter Bob Flick.

Authorities said the suspect in the murder, a 24-year-old man was found dead in his vehicle around 4 p.m. Friday in West LA. Officials said the suspect was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect’s name is not being released at the time, pending next of kin notification.

Authorities did not explain the relationship, if any, between suspect and victim.

The investigation is still on-going and no further information is available at this time.

According to McMahon’s IMDB page, he worked as an associate producer on the show for nine episodes in 2013.

Family members told Weingold McMahon reportedly heard a noise outside and went to check it out when the shooting occurred.

“We do know that he did leave the house right before the shooting,” explained Lt. Holly Francisco. “People heard gunshots and found the victim.”

Neighbors reported hearing about seven gunshots and a car speeding away.
