2 Palmdale Brothers Sentenced For Car-To-Car Shooting That Left 7-Year-Old Girl Dead

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —   Two brothers from Palmdale were sentenced to prison Friday for a car-to-car shooting in which a 7-year-old girl was killed, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Chung of the Hardcore Gang Division said Jesus Alberto Peralta, 24, was sentenced to 125 years to life in state prison and Carlos Peralta, 21, received a 46-years-to-life state prison sentence for the murder of Desiree Macias in 2013.

Both were found guilty on June 23 of one count each of first-degree murder and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle.

A jury also found them guilty of three counts of attempted willful, deliberate and premeditated murder and found gun allegations to be true.

On Sept. 4, 2013, the Peralta brothers issued a gang challenge to a man at a Palmdale gas station, according to witnesses. The man left the scene with his girlfriend and her two children after a brief confrontation with the defendants, the deputy DA said.

The Peraltas then got in a car, pursued the man and his family and shot several times at the vehicle, according to court testimony. The victim (whose name has also been given as Desirae Ybarra) died from a gunshot wound to the head, the prosecutor added.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
