PACIFIC PALISADES (CBSLA.com) — A Pacific Palisades neighborhood was evacuated Saturday when officials said they received reports of a large cache of live ammunition and weapons being found in a home.
LAPD and a bomb squad were sent to the Pacific Palisades for most of the night, forcing dozens of residents to stay out of their homes for more than eight hours.
The bomb squad was dispatched to the 1700 block of Palisades Drive, authorities said.
Investigators are removing guns and ammo from the home after someone called to say they found a large cache in a home.
Officials said it is the same home where a death investigation was conducted on Friday. The person died from natural causes. However, when going through the home, someone uncovered the firearms and called the police.
The neighborhood remained evacuated while the bomb squad secured the scene until authorities let people return to the neighborhood at 9 pm.
The news came as a big relief as originally it was reported that the evacuation could last a full 24 hours.
The LAPD has said that a gun detail will be out in the morning to pickup the boxes of guns that were found in the home.
