Police Investigate Bomb Threat In Santa Monica

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday investigated the circumstances surrounding a suspicious package in Santa Monica.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a threat of a suspicious package located in the 1500 block of Ocean Boulevard, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned a woman claimed to have a bomb.

A bomb squad was then called to the scene to determine if any explosives were in the area.

No injuries or evacuations were reported.

The woman was detained at the scene for questioning.

As a precaution, streets were closed between Ocean Avenue and Main Street, and between Colorado Avenue and Pico Boulevard.
