Officials Identify Man Fatally Shot At South LA Party

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 26-year-old man who was shot and killed at a party in South Los Angeles was identified on Monday.

Around 11 p.m. on Saturday, deputies were sent to a home located in the 11100 block of Berendo Avenue for report of a loud party.

Upon their arrival, authorities located three shooting victims.

Travione Mason, of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said he sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso during the incident.

A second man was transported to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. His condition remains unknown at this time.

Deputies said a third man sustained a gunshot wound during the incident, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

According to neighbors, at least six gunshots rang out before authorities arrived to the scene.

Keith Garrett, who identified himself as the party's caterer, explained he worked with Mason and the second victim at the party when he heard gunshots. When Garrett turned, he saw both coworkers had been struck by gunfire.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants as he fled down Berendo Avenue, according to neighbors.

Detectives said the suspect remains at large.
