ROSEMEAD (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Saturday were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Rosemead.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department detectives responded to the 8500 block of Olney Street shortly before 6 a.m.

Officials on Saturday said a male victim was found with a gunshot to his upper torso after being pulled from a pickup truck with a passenger compartment filling with smoke.

Marcus Chambers, 53, of Rosemead was declared dead at the scene. Officials believe his death was a suicide.

A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.
