Suspect Dies During Barricade Situation In Buena Park Home

BUENA PARK (CBSLA.com) — A male suspect was pronounced dead on Wednesday following a barricade situation at a home in Buena Park.

Just after 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were sent to the 6600 block of Kingman Avenue for report of a shooting suspect, according to the Buena Park Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities from at least three agency SWAT teams surrounded the home as the suspect had barricaded himself inside.

A preliminary investigation revealed the shooting suspect barricaded himself inside of the home after a shooting occurred at the intersection of Kingman and 10th Street.

A male victim at the scene was able to tell officers the name and location of the suspect. He was then transported to UCI-Medical Center in Irvine where he remains listed in critical, but stable condition.

Just before 3:30 a.m., SWAT teams entered the home and found the suspect who matched the description of the shooter.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Residents were evacuated for one city block during the incident, officers said.
