Doughnut Store That Released Ariana Grande Video Gets Docked Letter Grade By Health Department

LAKE ELSINORE (CBSLA.com) — A doughnut store in Southern California has been docked a letter grade after the release of a video that allegedly showed Ariana Grande licking and spitting on doughnuts.

Joe Marin, the owner of Wolfee Donuts in the Canyon Hills Marketplace in Lake Elsinore, says the health department received a call from someone who complained about the doughnuts in the video being left on the counter.

Marin says the health department took away his "A" a day after the video of the July 4 incident was released.

"I got a 'B' today," he said. "I've been open for six years since 2009, and it's always been an 'A.' "

Marin says he's been given seven days to fix what he calls "minor infractions."

"She told me about the sink dripping, but I guess it would push it a little. It'll close," he said.

Also on the video, Grande is heard asking what the oversize doughnuts are and commenting on the country.

"I hate Americans. I hate America. That's disgusting," Grande is heard saying.

The pop star on Wednesday issued a public apology saying she loves America and that her words were taken out of context.

While Grande's apology didn't addressed the doughnut-licking allegations, it said in part:

"What I said in a private moment with my friend Ryann, who was buying donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words."

Grande also said she's a proud American and was only referring to the country's food selection.

"As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences it has on our health and society as a whole," she said.

Authorities are trying to determine if the possibly tampered treats were sold to customers.
