LAKE ELSINORE (CBSLA.com) — Ariana Grande has issued an apology Wednesday for saying she hates America over the weekend.
The incident was caught on video at a doughnut shop in western Riverside County and appears to show Grande allegedly licking and spitting on doughnuts inside a Lake Elsinore store July 4.READ MORE: Man In His Mid 30s Fatally Shot In Carson
Workers at Wolfee Donut Shop in the Canyon Hills Marketplace also heard Grande saying, “I hate Americans, I hate America!”
Grande’s apology didn’t addressed the doughnut-licking allegations, but she said via Twitter (@ArianaGrande) she loves America. She also claims her words were taken out of context.
Grande said her comments were directed at Americans’ tendency to eat things without thinking about the consequences.
“What I said in a private moment with my friend ryann, who was buying donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words.
“As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences it has on our health and society as a whole,” Grande said.
Grande, meanwhile, refuted rumors that were circulating that claimed she pulled out of the MLB All-Star Concert because of the doughnut-licking video.
