Reports: Lakers, Pacers Nearing A Deal To Send Roy Hibbert To LA

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Various reports Saturday have the Indiana Pacers trading all-star center Roy Hibbert to the Lakers.

ESPN reports the Lakers are nearing agreement on a trade with the Pacers that will bring Hibbert to LA by week's end.

Sources told ESPN.com that the teams are still discussing the "final framework" of the deal but have committed to a swap that will see Hibbert absorbed into the Lakers' salary cap.

The LA Times, which also reported the pending deal, wrote, "Hibbert's best season was probably 2011-12, when he averaged 12.8 points, 8.8 rebounds and two blocked shots. He shot 49.7% that season."

Last year, Hibbert averaged 10 points and seven boards.

If/when the deal is finalized, Hibbert would become the Lakers' starting center.

Meanwhile, LaMarcus Aldrige of the Portland Trail Blazers -- who met with the Lakers as a possible free agent --  announced Saturday via Twitter that he decided to join the San Antonio Spurs.

(Related Link) It was reported this week that Aldrige and a meeting with a contingent of the Lakers "went well" but that he and Kobe Bryant didn't mesh.
