Gas Line Damaged By Vehicle Forces Evacuations In Arleta

ARLETA (CBSLA.com) — A gas line damaged by a vehicle prompted the evacuation of several homes and businesses in Arleta Sunday.

Firefighters responded to the 8900 block of Woodman Avenue, between Parthenia and Osborne, shortly after 11 a.m.

A LAFD spokesperson said approximately 20 people were evacuated after a one-inch gas line was damaged.

Los Angeles police and crews from the Department of Transportation assisted in the evacuations.

Traffic was diverted in the area while crews worked on repairs.

South California Gas Company crews were able to shut off the gas around 1:30 p.m., allowing evacuees to return.
