Man, 77, Stabbed During Home Invasion Robbery In Malibu

MALIBU (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a 77-year-old man was stabbed during a home invasion robbery in Malibu.

The incident unfolded about 10:50 p.m. Friday at the man's apartment in the 20700 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The department said in a written statement the victim told deputies he had been watching TV in his living room when he was confronted by two men.

Sgt. Matthew Dunn of the LASD said the victim saw one of the suspects with a knife in his hand.

A struggle ensued between the victim and the suspects at which point the victim realized he was bleeding, authorities said. Investigators said the man called 911 after the suspects allegedly robbed him.

"Among the stolen property were personal items belonging to the victim," the statement said.

The sergeant said the victim was "in shock" and was afraid. He sustained cuts to his mouth, the back of his head, and his shoulder. He was in fair and stable condition.

Dunn said, however, that authorities have not recovered the knife.

The suspects were described by the victim as two African American men. Deputies said the suspects fled in an unknown direction and in an unknown vehicle.

Anyone with more information about this case was asked to call the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Detectives at (818) 878-1808 or (800) 222-TIPS (8477) for those who wish to remain anonymous.
