President Obama Drops In On Popular Comedian's Podcast

HIGHLAND PARK (CBSLA.com)  —   Comedian Marc Maron has interviewed some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including the late Robin Williams.

But on Friday morning, Maron interviewed President Barack Obama for his "WTF With Marc Maron Podcast."

The interview took place inside a tiny garage behind his Highland Park home - an interview Maron says he still can't believe happened.

"I don't think I really registered it until they were tenting my driveway and I met with Secret Service on Thursday and the street closings were happening - until the day of," Maron said.

The president arrived in the Southland Thursday to take part in two DNC fundraisers.

The White House contacted Maron weeks ago about possibly doing an interview during the president's visit.

CBS2/KCAL9 obtained pictures taken during the interview, which lasted for over an hour.

Maron says they talked about everything from comedy, politics, the First Lady, his children and even the recent shooting tragedy that took place in South Carolina.

Maron says he was surprised by how comfortable the president made him feel during the interview - how human he was. He feels no matter what your stance is politically this was an interview he'll never forget.

"To meet the president, no matter who he is, or what point in your life, as an American is rare and exciting," Maron said.

Maron told CBS2's Brittney Hopper he will upload the eagerly anticipated podcast to iTunes on Monday.
