Girl, 2, Succumbs To Injuries Suffered In Hit-And-Run Crash That Killed Her Grandmother

IRVINE (CBSLA.com)  —  A 2-year-old girl who was injured in a hit-and-run crash in Irvine that claimed the life of her grandmother Wednesday evening has also died, according to authorities.

The girl, named Kaydence, died at approximately 2:20 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the hospital. Her grandmother, 54-year-old Katherine Hampton died at the scene.

The victim's 7-year-old brother and 28-year-old mother remain hospitalized. Both are reportedly in stable condition.

The accident occurred around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Alton and Barranca Parkways.

The suspect, who fled the scene and was arrested the next day in a park, has been identified as 20-year-old Alec Scott Abraham of Costa Mesa. He was driving a black Mustang.

He is in custody on $1 million bail. Abraham is being held on charges of felony gross vehicular manslaughter and felony hit-and-run and is expected to be formally charged and arraigned Monday.

Irvine Police are investigating the possibility, based on witness statements, that the crash might have been the result of street racing.
