26-Year-Old Ontario Man Held For Attempted Murder Of Girlfriend In Pomona

POMONA (CBSLA.com)  —  Pomona Police have arrested a 26-year-old Ontario man for the attempted murder of his girlfriend.

Authorities said they were dispatched to an apartment in the 1100 block of E. Mission Boulevard about a possible domestic violence situation Saturday morning just before 7 a.m.

Upon arrival, officials said they found a 27-year-old female victim inside the residence along with her 8-year-old son.

The victim had been allegedly choked unconscious with an electrical power cord by her boyfriend, now identified as Francisco Javier Munoz.

The suspect fled the location prior to police showing up.

The victim was treated for her injuries at a local hospital and released.

Around 7 p.m., the suspect was apprehended in a park near his residence in the 1200 block of 4th Street in the city of Ontario.

Members of the Major Crimes Task Force initiated a surveillance of the suspect's residence and surrounding area and took him into custody without incident.

Munoz was booked in the Pomona Jail and is being held on a  $500,000 bail.
