REDLANDS (CBSLA.com) — Terrifying security video shows a fire engine plowing into a parked truck as the owners were just about to get inside.

Police say a transient stole the truck from a Ford dealership in Redlands, where it was being serviced.

John Waddell, 58, is accused of hitting two other vehicles on his violent two-mile joyride.

Officers say he tried to ram a police cruiser that was responding to the call.

Waddell was under arrest Friday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
