Authorities Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting In Orange

ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — Police Thursday investigated the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting in Orange.

According to the Orange Police Department, officers were sent shortly after 4:30 a.m. to a home in the 1900 block of East Rose Avenue near North Tustin Street for report of a shooting.

two officers confronted a man who refused to comply with police orders, and a shooting subsequently occurred. Both officers fired their weapons.

Police said the suspect was shot and taken to a hospital. He is expected to survived his injuries.

A second man, who is 22, was also shot at the scene and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. It remains unclear, however, how he sustained his injuries, police said.

No officers were injured in the shootings.

A preliminary investigation revealed the first man, who is 23, had threatened occupants inside the home with a firearm.

Police recovered a handgun at the scene.

It is unclear if the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The investigation is continuing.
