Kitten Rescued After Being Dropped From Sky By Hawk In Jurupa Valley

JURUPA VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — A kitten used up one of its nine lives Tuesday after tangling with a hawk in a Jurupa Valley neighborhood.

A 5-week-old kitten was rescued by Jurupa Valley resident Lindsey Gage, who had spotted the feline in the grip of a hawk as she was about to leave to go grocery shopping, Riverside County Animal Services spokesman John Welsh said.

The hawk lost its hold on the white kitten as it flew from its perch on a neighbor's basketball hoop, and Gage used the opportunity to scoop it up before the hawk could come back for the kitty.

Gage took the kitten to the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley, where it was examined. The cat did have a wound to its chest area, but the injury does not appear to be life threatening, Welsh said.
