Dodgers Place Grandal On DL, Recall Austin Barnes

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers placed catcher Yasmani Grandal on the seven-day concussion disabled list on Saturday, recalling catcher Austin Barnes from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Grandal is batting .291, including a .403 on-base percentage, with four homers and 17 RBI through 33 games in 2015. He batted .400 in 16 May games, which marked the third-best average in the Majors in the month.

Barnes, 25, will make his first appearance on an active Major League roster, after batting .290 with five doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI through 29 games at Triple-A. Barnes has earned more walks (14) than strikeouts this season (13), marking a .390 on-base percentage. He has also hit safely in his last eight games, including a 1-for-3 night in Las Vegas on Friday night.

The Riverside native was picked up by the Dodgers as part of a seven-player trade with Miami in December.
