7 Hurt While Pouring Concrete At Construction Site In Downtown LA
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Seven people were injured while pouring concrete at a construction site in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The incident happened Wednesday evening along Olive Street at Olympic Boulevard near L.A. Live.
Preliminary information suggests that the workers were pouring concrete when the floor beneath them collapsed, causing them to "ride" the second floor into the first.
Seven people were treated for minor injuries, five of which were transported to the hospital.
None of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
"It wasn't as much a rescue effort as much as it was patient care in this case because there were no persons actually trapped underneath the concrete," Chief David Perez of the LAFD said. "Everybody was on top of the concrete or out of the way."
The site of the accident appears to be in the beginning stages of construction for a residential structure.
OSHA has been notified of the accident and was expected to investigate.
