Kids Found Safe Days After Being Reported Missing

UPDATE AS OF 10PM: Authorities say Ashley Montes, 12, and Timothy Jacob Reed, 14, have been found and are safe. Police said detectives received a call about 9 p.m. informing them that the children were at Montes' house. Both kids were being questioned. No further information was immediately available.

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — The search continued Monday for two missing juveniles.

Ashley Montes, 12, and Timothy Jacob Reed, 14, were last seen around 4 p.m. Saturday getting on a bus near their middle school in Venice, according to authorities.

"They were swimming in the area near Mark Twain Middle School, and they were going to head over to Venice Beach. That's why they were going to hop on the bus," LAPD Officer Mike Lopez said.

Officers say neither child has a history of running away, and there has been no evidence of foul play.

Montes was described as an Hispanic girl with black hair and brown eyes, 4-foot-8 inches and 80 pounds.

Reed is an Hispanic boy with brown hair and brown eyes, 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.

The families were pleading with the public to help in the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding Montes or Reed's whereabouts was asked to call the Pacific Area watch commander at (310)482-6334. Call during non-business hours or on weekends should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
