Jennifer Blakey Campbell and a friend were walking home along Sultanas Street near Highway 74 Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. when they were hit by a Mustang. The unidentified friend is in critical condition.

The CHP wanted to give special thanks to the concerned residents who provided tips.

KCAL9's Crystal Cruz was at a vigil for the deceased Friday evening.

She said family and friends had been praying around the clock for the car and driver responsible for her death to be found.

"I was thinking thank God and now next is the guy. I was really excited," says the victim's 10-year-old son Anthony Campbell.

The CHP is now working what they're calling solids leads to find the driver of the vehicle that hit Jennifer and her friend.

Investigators will only say they got a tip and found the car at home.

"I was just really thankful, thanking God for that. It was really good news," says Jennifer's husband, Scott.

Jennifer's husband says before his wife was killed, his family had planned on moving. Now he just wants to see the driver face to face.

"It's not been real. It's a feeling I got, and it won't go away," he says.

Of all the candles lighted at the crash site Friday night, only Jennifer's son's candle remained lit. Anthony took it as a sign.

"I'm thinking she's letting me know she's here. She's still watching over me," said Anthony.

Anyone with further information about the incident is asked to contact the CHP Riverside Area Office at (951) 637-8000.
