LASD Seeks Public's Help To Locate Evidence In Murder Investigation Of Newborn

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Detectives Tuesday continued their investigation into the death of a dismembered infant that was found in South Los Angeles.

Deputies from the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station were sent to the 1500 block of West 104th Street around 10:05 a.m. Saturday for report of suspicious circumstances, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival, deputies learned from the homeowner that human remains were discovered.

Homicide detectives and the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner confirmed the remains were human at the scene.

According to detectives, the victim was a one to three day old infant who appeared to have been dismembered.

Significant portions of the victim's body remain missing.

Detectives and patrol deputies will conduct a flyer operation around 5 p.m. near the crime scene in an effort to bring awareness to their investigation.

Residents in the area of the 1500 block of West 104th Street are encouraged to look in their yards and trash cans for suspicious items that have been discarded. Detectives explained it is possible that additional remains may have been discarded in the area.

Authorities said they would also like to speak with any females who were recently pregnant, are no longer pregnant, and the baby is absent.
