Dodgers Place Crawford On 15-Day DL, Recall Hernandez

CHAVEZ RAVINE (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Dodgers placed outfielder Carl Crawford on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right oblique.

The move prompted the team to recall infielder/outfielder Kiké Hernandez from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Crawford connected on a triple on his only at-bat against the San Francisco Giants on Monday night before being lifted from the ball game in the third inning, due to tightness on his right side. He is batting .245 in the young season with one home run and three RBI through 15 games.

Hernandez, 23, managed a .169 batting average with two doubles, one homer and nine RBI through 16 games in the minors. He has appeared at shortstop, center field, and second base. He had tied for the club lead with six homers during Spring Training, with a .267 average, two doubles, and 12 RBI through 29 games in the Cactus League.

The Dodgers acquired Hernandez from the Miami Marlins as part of a seven-player trade back on December 10, 2014, after witnessing his initial time in the Majors last year.
