LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Hiring contractors in the U.S. to help with home renovation has become a multimillion dollar business.

In fact, interior designers have been known to charge thousands of dollars on average for their services.

West Hollywood based interior designer Leura Fine, however, recently created an affordable solution.

According to Fine, pricey home renovation services have most likely been out of the budgets of many residents across Southern California.

To help alleviate their costly expenses, she created a website that offers services from top interior designers at nearly half of the price.

“I literally was meeting people every day who desperately needed professional design services, but they simply couldn’t afford them,” explained Fine.

Laurel and Wolf charges a flat fee that starts at $299 per room, and gives customers unlimited services with a designer for one week.

Jen Bailey, of Santa Monica, recently discovered the Laurel and Wolf website after she moved in with her boyfriend.

Bailey explained their living room had the feel of a bachelor pad that was too dark and dull, and did not meet her expectations.

The process was simple. She went on the website, set their budget, and uploaded images of the living room.

Within a week, Bailey received five different style boards from five different designers.

She hired Kimberley Valente, of Rhode Island, to virtually transform their home through emails, phone calls and pictures.

“I picked the one that almost seemed to be looking inside my head,” added Bailey. “I kind of knew style. I knew I wanted to go blues and beachy.”

Through Valente’s virtual help, Bailey now enjoys spending time in a bright and airy living room.
