Westchester Residents On Edge As Robbery Suspects Remain At Large

WESTCHESTER (CBSLA.com) — Westchester residents are on edge as police continue the search for suspects in a recent home robbery.

Police say four armed men wearing masks broke into the residence in the 7400 block of Kentwood Avenue, beating the homeowner so badly he had to be hospitalized.

The suspects then took as many belongings as possible before taking off in a car, according to investigators.

Neighbors say a husband and wife live at the home and have lived in the neighborhood for years.

"It's a little scary. The whole neighborhood is talking about [how] we have to get security cameras in here," one resident said.

"It's still a surprise what happened to him. I feel very sorry for him and his family," another neighbor added.

A friend of the couple who came by to check on their dogs told CBS2/KCAL9 off-camera the victims are too afraid to return to the residence. Neighbors say the same home was broken into a month ago and believe family might have been targeted.

"I know he's a bail bondsman, so maybe an association with that element has caused him some problems," a neighbor said.

The homeowner is expected to recover.

Detectives won't say whether the family was targeted, only that they are investing.
