Shake Shack To Open First SoCal Restaurant In 2016

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Officials Tuesday announced plans to open the first Shake Shack restaurant here in Southern California.

Shake Shack, which is a well-known "roadside" burger stand on the east coast, has been scheduled to open on the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and West Knoll Drive in West Hollywood.

The restaurant is best known for their 100 percent all-natural, antibiotic-free Angus beef burgers, griddle crisp flattop hotdogs, crinkle cut french fries, frozen custard and more. Added hormones are never used within their menu items.

"We've heard from our west coast fans for years that they'd love a Shake Shack in California," said Shake Shack CEO Randy Garutti. "Los Angeles is one of the greatest cities in the world with a culture like no other. We look forward to being a party of the community."

Shake Shack posted the announcement to Twitter this afternoon.

The restaurant was originally founded more than a decade ago by Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, and first opened for business in New York City's Madison Square Park.

The West Hollywood location will have a large outdoor patio and a designated parking area. It is scheduled to open in 2016.
