Inglewood Man Arrested In Connection With Palms Shooting Spree

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An Inglewood man was arrested Friday in connection with a series of shootings that killed one man and injured four people Thursday afternoon in the Palms area of West Los Angeles.

James Pickens, 35,was jailed on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He is being held on $1 million bail.

The motive for the shooting spree has not been made public, nor has a fuller description of the exact order of events.

The Police Department stated that the case would be presented to the district attorney's office on Tuesday for possible action.

Justin Aguilar, 27, was killed and another man injured after gunfire was reported just before 3 p.m. Thursday at Woodbine Park, near Woodbine Street and Vinton Avenue. The second man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.

Three other people were shot in close proximity moments after the initial incident. A man was critically wounded at the intersection of Vinton and Motor avenues while two others were shot at Overland Avenue and National Boulevard, police said.
