PALMS (CBSLA.com) — Detectives sought the public’s help Friday to provide information that would lead to the arrest of those responsible for fatally shooting a 27-year-old man and injuring four others.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to Woodbine Park, located in the 10300 block of Woodbine Street, for numerous reports of shots fired.
Upon their arrival, police located three men near the park who were suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics pronounced one victim — who was later identified as Justin Aguilar — dead at the scene.
A second victim was transported to a hospital where he remains listed in critical, but stable condition. The third victim also remains hospitalized in stable condition.
Officials described the suspect as a Hispanic man who drove a white SUV.
About 20 minutes later, officers were sent to Overland Avenue and National Boulevard for report of a second shooting.
Police located two men who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Paramedics transported both men to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives said the suspect involved in the second shooting was described as a Hispanic man who drove a tan sedan.
According to police, the two shootings have not been linked at this time.
Authorities believe the motive for the shooting may be gang-related.
The investigation is ongoing.
